Location
Michamvi sits on a peninsula on the east coast of Unguja, the main island of Zanzibar, reached from Zanzibar City along the established paved arterial road that serves the East Coast tourism corridor.
Michamvi is known for calm, shallow tidal lagoons on the sheltered side and long Indian Ocean beaches on the ocean side, which gives the peninsula a quieter, more residential character than the busier resort strips further north.
The development is served by the existing surfaced arterial road connecting the peninsula to the island road network, which makes the site practical for year-round access rather than a seasonal retreat.
The ocean side of the peninsula faces the Indian Ocean and is the area main swimming and watersports setting.
The sheltered tidal side of the peninsula is popular for kite-surfing, paddling and shallow-water swimming.
A growing cluster of independent beach restaurants and bars operates along the peninsula.
Established resort hotels along the east coast are within reach via the main corridor road.
Development progress
The scheme design is complete and the project is working through environmental and planning approvals. Construction has not started, and no completion date is published until the programme is confirmed after contractor selection.
